Glass Lanterns

Lanterns for Candlelight, Solar, and Cordless Glow

A lantern is the easiest light to add to a space, because it needs no outlet and no electrician. Our assortment splits three ways: candle lanterns in metal and glass, solar fabric lanterns for hanging, and rechargeable cordless LED lanterns. Pick by how you plan to power it.

Does World Market Sell Paper Lanterns?

Yes. The collapsible rice paper hanging lanterns are the ones people come looking for, including a red Lucky Cat design and a chrysanthemum teardrop shape. They fold flat for storage, which makes them easy to put up for an occasion and put away after. Because they are paper, keep them indoors or well covered.

What Is the Difference Between Solar and Rechargeable Lanterns?

Solar lanterns, like our round fabric styles in sunflower, monstera leaf, geo, and wildflower prints, charge from daylight and are built to hang outside through the season. Rechargeable cordless lanterns, including the Lightkeeper, Hibernia, Cassidy, Lucretia, and Drifter designs, plug in to charge and are meant to be carried wherever you need light - from a table to a porch.

Which Lanterns Use Real Candles?

Our bestselling Latika collection is the candle line, offered in antique zinc and antique gold, in hanging and tabletop versions and a few heights. There is also an ivory hand painted metal candle lantern and a standing lantern hook if you would rather hang one than set it down. Never leave a lit candle unattended.

Ways to Use Lanterns

• Line a walkway with solar lanterns and let them handle themselves all season.
• Cluster three Latika candle lanterns at different heights on a table.
• Hang collapsible fabric lanterns over a dining table for one evening, then fold them away the next.
• Keep a rechargeable cordless lantern by the door for power outages and late nights outside.
• Move a portable color changing lantern wherever people end up sitting.

Light does more to change the ambience of a room or an evening alfresco space than almost anything else you can buy for the price. For weatherproof options built to stay outdoors, see our outdoor lanterns.
