Rugs That Handle Both Sides of the Door

An indoor-outdoor rug earns its keep in the places a wool rug would not survive: a covered patio, an entry, a kitchen, or a room where a dog shakes off rain. Ours are woven to take that traffic and still look like something you chose on purpose. Pattern first, practicality built in!

What Are Indoor Outdoor Rugs Made Of?

Most of this assortment is woven from synthetic fibers built to shed water and resist fading, and several are hand hooked from recycled materials - including our alligator and butter-stick shaped designs as well as our bright pink cheetah floral and multicolor ombre stripe rugs. A few are reversible, like the Dune diamond and the Rio palm leaf floor mat, which effectively gives you two rugs for the price of one. Check each product page for the exact fiber.

How Do You Clean an Indoor Outdoor Rug?

That is the main reason to buy one. Most can be swept, shaken out, or hosed down and left to dry fully before going back into place. Care instructions differ by construction, so follow the guidance on the product page rather than a general rule, especially for the hooked styles.

What Patterns Are Available?

Geometrics run deep here, including the Sol diamond group in black and natural, Lucca geometric stripe in copper and blue, Cortes navy geometric, Kavi in black and tan, Resort Grid, and a low-profile multicolor diamond. On the softer side, shop our colorful poppy and green palm print rugs, as well as and the Inira and Parker stripes. Sizes range from under 2' x 3' up to 9' x 12', with a runner in the mix.

Ways to Use an Indoor Outdoor Rug

  • Put one under a covered patio table where spills are a given.
  • Use a reversible design in a mudroom and flip it when one side has had enough.
  • Layer a small hooked rug over a larger neutral one for a bit of pattern.
  • Anchor an indoor or alfresco kitchen sink or prep zone with something you can hose off.
  • Try a bold shape, like the alligator, in a spot that could use some play.

Buy for the traffic first and the pattern second, and you will not regret it. For more options, see our area rugs, outdoor rugs and new rugs.
