Close your eyes and whisk yourself away to the New Orleans French Market, where music and the smell of coffee and chicory fill the air. Now, why not fill your own home with the same wonderful aromas? The French custom of adding chicory to coffee for a hint of chocolate flavor was brought to Louisiana, and there it was sold at the original Cafe Du Monde coffee stand in New Orleans starting in 1862. It's traditionally served with hot milk.

Don't be afraid of the dark! My friend introduced me to this coffee well over 10 years ago and having been a coffee drinker all my life I prefer any Dark or French Roast most of all. I have to say that this blend is delicious from start to finish...even cold! Depending how you brew your coffee, at first it will seem VERY strong and borderline overwhelming for non-Dark coffee drinkers. However, the more you drink you'll find that it's the strong that makes it so great! It's the chicory which makes it so smooth and appealing. Once you start drinking Café Du Monde all others seem dull and weak. I use this now in my Keurig with the adaptor which works fine but you'll need to use less coffee in the basket. I wish they would come out with a K-Cup sometime soon. January 7, 2015
A Strong, Flavorful, Versatile Coffee! I was first introduced to this coffee when I was looking at recipes so I could make Vietnamese iced coffee at home. Many recipes called for this specific brand of coffee because of the chicory. (As a side note, yes, for you purists, this coffee is popular generally in American-Vietnamese restaurants, not necessarily in Vietnam or other countries where this drink is popular-but I was craving the same taste as what is served in my local restaurant.) With a metal drip filter and some sweetened condensed milk I had the cool Vietnamese treat I was craving. But since I was not going to go through the hassle of making it that way everyday, especially on the way out the door, the can sat in my cupboard until one day I was out of my usual coffee and I used this coffee in my regular coffeemaker. From that point forward I was in love. I also make this coffee in my Aeropress for a stronger cup. No matter how you prepare this coffee, it is delicious. This coffee is strong and bold! If you are not a coffee connoisseur, and you are fine with your daily cup of Foldgers, then this coffee is not for you. If you love any sort of coffee or espresso, and you have the menu at your local coffee shop memorized, this is the coffee for you. February 4, 2013
Bold Flavor I blend Cafe Du Monde with other coffee varieties on hand to create new tastes, which also works really well to jazz up bland coffee beans that might otherwise get tossed out. March 15, 2013
