Ingredients
2 two-inch pieces of fresh ginger, peeled
2 two-inch pieces of turmeric, peeled*
1 lemon
4 tbsp agave syrup
sparkling water
cayenne pepper
1 oz tequila (optional)
*If you have no fresh ginger or turmeric on hand, you can also substitute using powdered spices. Mix 1 tbs of each to start and add lemon juice, and a small amount of water until you dissolve all the spices.
Directions
Tonic Directions:
1. Place ginger, turmeric and lemons into a juicer and allow to strain into a glass jar.
2. Stir in agave.
3. Store in a clean airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Cocktail Directions:
1. Add 1 – 2 oz of turmeric ginger juice into a tall glass filled with ice.
2. Add sparkling water and sprinkle a small pinch of cayenne on top. For a weekend happy hour spritz, try adding 1 oz of tequila or vodka to turn it into a health-forward cocktail.
Tips: If you do not have a juicer, you can place ginger and turmeric into a blender with a small amount of water and juice of both lemons. Blitz until smooth and strain into a glass container through a mesh sieve and add agave.
