I’m Nina, from The HSS Feed, and I’m excited to be guest blogging here today to share with you one of my favorite ways to update my home.

Whether it is a change in season or change in mood, I’m always up for little updates to my home that make a big impact. When it came to buying big pieces for our living room, I stuck with neutrals (like this great couch) so that I could add pops of color and personality with pillows, throws or other accessories.

Pillows are always where I start because they make a difference very easily and very quickly. Today I’m sharing three different color schemes for a little pillow party with some of my favorite picks:

  • Grays with a Pop of Pink: With an assortment of pillows like this, I like to layer from the edges of the couch toward the middle. I would use a solid gray and black and white fray pillow on each side and have them meet at the pop of pink. You can also add more in the way of pops of color with a great throw.
  • Patterned Blues: You can really do this look with any color you love, but I chose blue because of the fantastic aqua hue. I wanted to pick a color that would be consistent throughout my choices, but was also used in different ways, including the peacock print and floral embroidery. I added a solid as a base to even things out – and I love a lumbar pillow for cozying up on the couch!
  • Wild Neutrals: This is a great option to keep things pretty low key, but also interesting and comfortable. I love the cowhide pillow for a natural element and pairing with the duponi silk pillow, a solid cream color pillow and embroidered pillow with a little color for more texture and variety.

What are some of your favorite ways to make quick and easy updates to your home? And what are you shopping for now?

I did the same, opted for neutral shade of furniture and rug and added pops of color in the cushions which coordinated with the curtains and the accent wall of plum. I love the shades of gray with the pop of magenta and also the aqua which is picked up in all three cushions including the peacock pillow. I am now looking for pops of color in purple to add to a neutral base in a tiny bathroom!
