You may have seen the tiny house trend pop up here and there in decorating magazines or on social media. It’s a great option for those who are willing to make the most of their space, and can be quite affordable, too! But choosing a Lilliputian lifestyle doesn’t mean you need to be a mega-minimalist. Here at World Market, we like to think of ourselves as the small space experts, so we jumped at the chance to make over a tiny bungalow house – which you have a chance to win!
A Great First Impression
By adding just a few pieces – plants, a colorful doormat, and a “welcome” sign, the tiny porch and front door area looks cozy, lived in, and inviting. Depending on season and location, outdoor furniture is also a great addition to your tiny house. On days with good weather, having a well-appointed outside area is like having an extra room!
Put the Entry to Work
To keep things organized and easy to find, we’ve placed a chest just to the right as you enter the house. It’s a great place to drop your keys, and creates extra storage, along with the wall hooks for bags, scarves and hats. We took advantage of the ceiling height to add a hanging bamboo pendant shade. The basket weave gives the small space a light and airy feel. Also chosen was this stylish neutral sofa that converts easily into a daybed, making it perfect for overnight guests.
For additional seating, our Malawi chair can be seen tucked into the front entry corner. It’s lightweight and easy to move around the space. Floor cushions are great for sitting around the low coffee table, and our glass laptop table is also easily moved and can be used as a portable desk or a side table.

Little Kitchen, Big Style
You can still have a fully functional kitchen in the smallest of homes. One of the most common issues in many kitchens is lack of storage. We added a rolling cart, which is terrific not just for keeping glasses and other items organized, but for breaking up the space and using as a mobile bar cart, if needed. If you’re short on cupboards but have the wall space, hanging shelves give you enough storage for dinnerware, spices and more.
Two Fun Lofts
With two loft areas, this tiny house really does make the most of its high ceilings. Above the entry way, we created a fun pillow loft with a flokati rug, an assortment of patterned and embellished pillows, and poufs. One pouf holds a tray and can be used as a table. We kept the bedroom loft decor to a minimum but brightened up the space with this fun floral quilt and matching shams. Pretty handwoven baskets in a variety of colors, patterns and materials serve as storage to keep your items hidden.
