Valentine’s Day has never been about a gift or a dozen red roses to me. My husband and I don’t exchange gifts and with three small children, date nights are far and few between. I’ve found that celebrating love is in those little moments, like when you’re about to drop all the groceries, and your partner comes swooping in and takes them from you, or when it’s your turn to get the baby at night, but he rolls out of bed before you and lets you sleep. Or when you discover you are really bad at rolling out dough to make pretzels and he comes in like Martha Stewart’s knight in shining armor.
Yep, that’s love.
These Valentine’s Day Heart-Shaped Pretzels are an easy beginner’s treat to make for the special person in your life. Well, easy enough, unless you are me and need to call in extra help from the hubby to do all the dough rolling once you discover you are incapable of rolling dough without tearing it. (Hey, nobody’s perfect!) My husband made sure to help me when I got stuck and seeing a man show you up in the kitchen is just plain attractive. I wasn’t expecting to find a little romance in between making these heart-shaped pretzels, but that is the funny thing about love—it hits you when you least expect it.
These are quite a delicious treat for anyone to enjoy. I know you will have fun making them, and who knows? Maybe you’ll find a little romance in the kitchen while you’re kneading the dough…
