It’s time to get your patio tiki bar styled and stocked, ready for the first luau of the season. Balmy summer weather is so close we can almost taste it — and it tastes just like our Volcano Punch Bowl Cocktail! Sometimes called a Scorpion Punch Bowl, this tropical rum-based drink is traditionally served up in a festive tiki bowl and garnished with pineapple slices, cherries and multiple umbrella straws. Gather your friends, because this concoction is a refreshing sip designed to be shared. Scroll down for the cocktail recipe.

Let’s Luau! Patio Tiki Bar Essentials

Once you’ve got your cocktail ingredients ready to go, why not say “aloha” to some island inspiration and set a Hawaiian luau-like scene? Here are a few of our favorite tiki bar picks for the patio:

Embellish your outdoor tiki bar with decorative staples you can use year after year (as long as you’re relatively careful when using and storing them, at least!). Tropical-themed garland lends a lush look for less. And DIY is a fantastic option if you’re looking to save some pennies — check out these cute tropical DIY straw toppers! And of course, you’ll want to plan some tasty bites you can make ahead of time. We recommend these Pina Colada Cupcakes, they are absolutely irresistible and easy to make.

Technically it can only be called a Dark and Stormy if you use Goslings brand rum. It’s their signature drink. The Dark rum should be the float, that’s what makes it look dark and stormy as the rum falls through the drink, like dark clouds at the top. 😉
