As a rule, I believe that brownies are the one dessert that is very hard to pass up, or stop at eating just one. At least for me that is the case and these Guinness Stout Skillet Brownies with Salted Chocolate Guinness frosting are no exception to this rule.

Brownies are one of those recipes that while you could make from scratch are just as good if not better from a box mix. I always go with Ghirardelli and “doctor” it up to make the brownies even better. And of course, for St. Patrick’s Day I had to go with not only adding Guinness Stout into the brownies but making a frosting with it as well.

These easy brownies use one bowl and are baked in a skillet. Normally, I bake brownies in a pan and if I don’t line the pan with parchment paper, which I always seem to be out of, I end up having to soak the pan for 2 days after we devour the brownies. A skillet is way easier!

The frosting is also a must. Made with Guinness Stout and dark chocolate spread, it complements the brownies really well – and don’t forget the big flake salt.

    The World market chocholate spread is out of stock online and not available in any stores near where I live. Any suggestion for what to substitute it with?

      To answer my own question… I substituted the WM chocolate spread with Nutella and it turned out great!

    Two questions – 1.) I don’t have a cast iron pan. So are there any temp/time adjustments to make when baking these? 2.) Is Guinness beer the same as their stout or is it more like a lager?

    Really intrigued by this recipe and definitely want to give it a go, but we live at high altitude (5,400′) in Colorado and so I am wondering what adjustments would need to be made to this recipe – I believe the dry ingredient measurements would need to be increased…thanks for letting me know!
