One of my all-time favorite desserts are marshmallow cereal treats. There’s something so nostalgic about biting into soft marshmallow covered in crispy rice cereal. When I was growing up, these chewy pieces were a staple in my life; they were constants at birthday parties, school events and soccer tournaments, and one of the first desserts I ever learned how to make as a little girl.
But for some reason, when you turn 18, you never see them anymore! When I became older I would find any excuse to make them at baby showers, office parties, or housewarmings. People are always surprised by how much they love marshmallow cereal treats! (Maybe it’s because they didn’t realize how much they missed them?) Either way, they’re bound to bring a smile to your face.
This recipe is especially fun because the kiddos can help make them, and instead of using marshmallows, we mix marshmallow fluff and Peeps together to create a colorful and sweet swirl of gooey deliciousness.
But these treats aren’t just for children; after they’ve been made and cut you can go the extra step to making them even more decadent! I dip them in Guittard Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips and then roll them in some of my Easter candy favorites, like Brach’s Malted Milk Eggs and Cadbury Mini Eggs. (Are your teeth hurting yet?)
For added crunch, I crushed up waffle cookies and added those, too. I love the gourmet spin this gives to the otherwise traditional treat. The extra add-ins totally transform this dessert into an elevated treat, don’t you think?
