Though intended to be a joyful time of year, the holidays can also be stressful, especially when it comes to planning parties and entertaining guests. I’d love to take some of that pressure away with simple tips to facilitate your Christmas baking endeavors, while also giving you inspiration for your festive dessert spread!
Once I settled on my retro baking theme, my next steps include deciding on the centerpiece and background, especially since your eye is usually drawn to those items first. I opted for a simple and clean background, embellished with a festive wreath. And what says holiday dessert table better than a wreath made out of cupcake liners? I chose the Peppermint Cupcake Liners for their classic red and white stripes and polka dots patterns, turned them inside out and gently bunched each together at the bottom to resemble a floral shape. Then, I pinned them one by one onto a foam wreath and added a banner written with a chalk pen. I loved it so much I decided to make a small version on a round chalkboard with Peppermint Mini Cupcake Liners to create a Christmas countdown!
Now for the centerpiece, I have had the Ivory Scalloped Metal Cake Pedestals on my wish list for quite some time and finally had the perfect excuse to get them! I always love to offer cupcakes, which I included on the bottom tier, but the top tier showcases my cake.
It’s a mouth-watering Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cake with Nutella Buttercream Frosting—and yes, it tastes just as delectable as it sounds! I accentuated it with a simple bunting on Red and Green Baker’s Twine and added a precious vintage-inspired Paper Pulp Pickup Truck Ornament as a cake topper. Follow the recipe after the jump to treat your guests to this heavenly cake this holiday season!
