Cocktails and Apps Three Ways
When I’m hosting a gathering, I take a little extra time to consider what my guests really like in order to make them feel special. It’s my pleasure to offer each guest a thoughtful pairing of cocktails and apps that celebrates who they are. But this can be tricky! So often what makes a party really great is that every guest brings their own particular tastes and personalities to the mix. With that in mind, I have whipped up three go-to cocktail and appetizer pairings that you can easily re-create for your beloved guests at your own unique get-together. Plus, everything is available at World Market–my absolute favorite place to buy delicious, global snacks and scene-stealing hosting supplies!
Everyone Knows a Wine Lover
Is there anything easier (or more universally loved) than a sweet, fruity sangria? I started with Ruffino Sparkling Rosé, and to that I added Mirabella Limoncello. The Rosé and the Limoncello are ideal cocktail companions, with the fruitiness of the pink wine highlighted by the puckery, citrus zip of the Limoncello.
I added some fresh raspberries and lemons to give it a great fancy look, and served it up in these gorgeous gold rimmed glasses.
This sensational Sangria cocktail screams “dessert” to me, so I really wanted to pair it with something that would have the same vibe. I grabbed some shortbread tart shells and filled them with World Market Limoncello Lemon Curd and Lindonberry Jam. I served them on this amazing marble turntable, and I love the finished look! I topped the lemon ones with a raspberry and the lingonberry ones with some lemon zest, stealing a few ingredients from my Sangria recipe.
Sparkling Rosé Sangria
1 750 ml bottle of Ruffino Sparkling Rosé, chilled
1 cup Mirabella Limoncello
1 pint fresh raspberries
2 lemons, sliced thin
Combine all ingredients and serve.
Three Cheers for Beer!
So many great cocktails start with beer, but they just don’t get as much attention as they should! One I recently heard about was the Poor Man’s Bloody Mary. The idea behind it was that you replace the vodka in your Bloody Mary with your favorite beer. Sold! And the beer aficionados at your affair will be most impressed.
This super easy cocktail starts with delicious Tabasco Bloody Mary Mix. To that, I added Pilsner Urquell, but you can add any great light beer you love from World Market. For an eye-catching look, serve in classic English Beer Pint Glasses.
I thought that the perfect snack to go with this casual cocktail would be something just as savory and delicious. I grabbed some Sabrina’s Collections Baguette Crisps (which I can never get enough of!), spreadable Smoked Gouda and delicious Fermin Iberico Dry Cured Pork Loin. It ended up being the perfect easy three-ingredient snack! And I love how it looked served on this small wooden cutting board.
Poor Man’s Bloody Mary
4 ounces Tabasco Bloody Mary Mix
4 ounces Pilsner Urquel
Made for Mix-Masters
I love most cocktails you put in front of me, but my heart belongs to whiskey. Everyone is boarding the Moscow Mule train, which is traditionally made with vodka. But did you know that you can make it with whiskey? It becomes a Kentucky Mule, and it. is. fabulous. If you’ve got a mixologist at your party, you’ll impress them with this tasty twist on a classic.
This simple and delicious drink is made with Bulleit Rye Whiskey and Fever Tree Ginger Beer. To that you add just a squirt of lime juice and a dash of fresh mint. If you want to get fancy, you can muddle the mint and lime juice before adding to the mix.
This epic cocktail deserved to be paired with an equally epic cheese and sausage board. And, of course, if you are going to build an epic cheese board, you need something epic to put it on. This Large Raw Edge Wood Paddle Cutting Board is, well, epic!
Cocktails and Apps – Epic Cheese and Sausage Board
Kentucky Moscow Mule
2 ounces Bulleit Rye Whiskey
4 ounces Fever Tree Ginger Beer
1 tablespoon lime juice
Fill a copper mug with ice.
Stir to combine. Garnish with a lime wedge and mint sprig.
