Hi! I’m Kim from Tidbits&Twine posting today about creating a beautiful workspace!
Many times, we put a desk in our homes so that we have a space to work on the computer, pay bills, sort mail, and do many other tasks that are typically not considered fun. As such, we sometimes overlook the fact that while a desk needs to be functional, it can be beautiful, too! In fact, creating a beautiful spot in which to work actually makes the tasks more enjoyable and can inspire your creativity.
Your Workspace, Your Style
First and foremost, your workspace needs to be practical and functional for your needs, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t also include some fun accessories that reflect your style and your personality to make the space more pleasing to you! Since I spend so much time at my computer each day, I decided it was finally time to give my workspace a makeover using items that inspired me.
Choose a Desk that Suits You
I started with the Rubbed Black Quade Desk because I love that it is open underneath, allowing me to use the space for additional storage (should I need it). Also, it’s three deep drawers provide storage for desk supplies and the center drawer front even drops down so that it can be used as a keyboard tray.
Since the desk has a large work surface, providing lots of space for my laptop and papers, I didn’t mind giving up some of the space toward the back for fun accessories. I layered items starting with artwork leaning against the wall: the “Typewriter” print by Loui Jover, the Nature Bird Wall Art, and instead of a traditional bookend, an Antique Green Globe with Brass Stand. While the Small Mason Jar might be intended for use as a vase, I decided to use it to display my vintage scissor collection—although it could just as easily be used to hold pencils, pens, letter openers, and other desk supplies you want within easy reach.
On the other side of the desk, I created a small vignette using wood, white, and green as the unifying colors.
The anchor is this fantastic rustic Wooden Calendar.
And in keeping with a numbers theme, I paired the calendar with some beautiful Ceramic Number Balls displayed in a dish.
A Workspace You’ll Enjoy
Even though there are lots of accessories on the desk, there is still ample room for me to work so for me; it’s the perfect balance between work and play. And now that my new stylish desk display is complete, I’m enjoying my workspace so much more!
