One of our favorite way to make the Easter holiday extra ‘hoppy’ is to create colorful, cheery DIY decor. And the #1 must-do on our list? A festive Easter Wreath! It’s lots of fun to make, and you can even gather a few little bunny helpers to assist in this easy-as-pie project.
What you’ll need:
- Styrofoam Ring (can be found at any craft store)
- Different sized cardboard “U” shapes or a pom-pom maker
- Multiple colors of yarn
- Craft Glue or Hot Glue Gun
DIY Easter Wreath in 6 Steps
Step 1: Make the pom-poms! First, wrap yarn around one of the cardboard pieces until you get a good amount.
Next, thread a 5-inch piece of yarn through the center of the the wound up yarn. Tie a double knot to secure it.
Now, slide the yarn off of the cardboard cutout.
Cut the loop on each side. Once cut fluff up the pom pom. If necessary, trim any longer pieces to make it even. Now make more in all the colors you want! If the cardboard cut outs aren’t working for you, local craft stores may carry a pom-pom maker.
Step 2: Place a dab of glue on the styrofoam ring and begin winding the thread around the ring. This is simple, but can take a while, so maybe tackle while watching your favorite TV show.
Step 3: Once the ring is almost wrapped, place another dab of glue to secure the end of the twine. Hold it down for a few seconds until the glue dries.
Step 4: Begin glue-ing on all of the pom-poms in the arrangement that you want.
Step 6: Hang! We used some ribbon and simply hung it up with a tack — super easy!
