There’s something incredibly personal about giving a homemade treat or dessert to someone you care about. As you can imagine, during Christmas, Domestically Speaking blogger Maryann’s kitchen is abuzz with activity. The home baker and self-professed DIY lover turns her kitchen into a frenetic baking central filled with mixing bowls, baking ingredients and festive additions like poinsettias, greenery, burlap and plaid.
“We just made ginger bread and my grandma’s Christmas Butter Cookies,” says Maryann, who gushed about her grandma’s three-ingredient cookie and its unforgettable “buttery pie crust.”
Destiny from Just Destiny also spends a lot of time baking up a storm during the holidays—even if it means tweaking cold-weather favorites to suit her holiday climate of 80-degree days. Her Christmas favorite? Pizzoookies, a pizza-like cookie topped with ice cream and “other yummy goodness.”
“Baking pizzookies is definitely a fun tradition we have each year,” says Destiny, who adds festive Christmas flavors like peppermint into the baking mix.
