I picked up this sauce on a whim. I happen to love artichokes and having lived in NY for over 29 years, I was exposed to truly, wonderful Italian restaurants. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this sauce was, and the pleasant memories it evoked. I have come back to order more!
I love this sauce! I use it as a starting point for a final sauce that I make. I agree with the previous reviewer that the sauce does need salt, but I figure it is cautiously seasoned to appeal to a mass audience. That said this is what I do with a bottle of this sauce. 1. Brown 1 package Italian Sausage (removed from casings) in olive oil. 2. Add 1/2 pound thinly sliced mushrooms. 3. Add 1 jar of the sauce, 1 (14 oz) can petite diced tomatoes w/juice, 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes, 1 Tbs. good balsamic vinegar, 1/2 tsp. sugar and salt to taste. Simmer for about 45 minutes; taste and adjust seasonings. I serve this over Penne or Rigatoni. You don't want spaghetti here because of the chunkyness of the sauce. Make it as mild or spicy as you like with your choice of Italian sausage and the addition of red pepper flakes. Yum!
I absolutely love this product! I have used the pasta sauce on steamed veges., fish (talipia), and of course, pasta!! Very versitile. Great for last minute dinner fix.
