Not only does it go with French country design, it's not too cutesy, rather casual. It goes with other bird items in the room. I purchased the lamp online and the tan shade I got at the World Market store fits perfectly, and matches my drapes and carpet. A friend of mine asked where I got it and I told her World Market, she was very surprised. Compared to other lamps online, this was a great value. I use it everyday. April 5, 2013

Note... it's perfect for my use, but even with a shade, it's not very tall. It would also make a nice chairside reading lamp. February 1, 2013

I purchased online without seeing in person, and when it arrived I was surprised by how heavy it was. I had purchased the Woodland lamp shade with it but the uno socket did not fit, so I had to return that lamp shade to the store. While I was there, I picked up a standard floor lamp shade. It really does go perfectly with the 20 x 17 x 13 drum shades. Altogether, the shade and the base still cost less than a similar floor lamp that I saw at another store (that one had more branches and birds, but only two more). The only thing I would change about this base is that it's a bit short (I'm 5'1 and it's about my height with the drum shade) - another 3 to 6 inches higher would be perfect. December 28, 2015
