Rated 2 out of 5 by Coopers Treated Wood and Odd Smell When I opened the box, this has a pretty strong smell like a shoe polish... acacia does have its own scent, but the smell was like a wood treatment (stain/finish)... so just for fun I tried a magic eraser on one small part, and lo and behold the finish started coming right off. Underneath was a MUCH LIGHTER, cheaper wood with pencil like marks and other flaws. So what? I thought... why not just sell the wood that way as it's a cheap set (inexpensive), and I don't enjoy grinding chemicals into my herbs. The hardwood itself is nice. It just seemed a little dishonest that the description even said that this is worth more than we're charging. Well, we all know better, but still, just say what it is, don't exaggerate the quality and don't risk ruining the item by trying to make it look prettier. September 6, 2013
