Rated 3 out of 5 by Mrs. Koby Beware of smell My middle school age daugther loves this lamp. She has a white circular paper shade for it. Unfortunately, we "temporarily" used a 100 watt bulb instead of the 60 watt and forgot to change it out. My daughter used this lamp for at least a year, but the heat from the bulb eventually took it's tole on the plastic socket which began to smell of rotting fish. Of course we had no idea that the smell was coming from the lamp. We vacumed/shampooed the carpets, took the dog to the vet, checked the crawl space in the attic, had a man out to clean the heating/air conditioning ducts, and cleaned the gutters trying to figure out where the smell came from. Finally, our neighbor and my husband were getting reading to break through my daughter's bedroom wall to inspect for dead animals and the neighbor realized it was the lamp! So, keep it to the 60 watts, and if you smell dead fish, it is the plastic in the socket! I would like the product better if the socket was ceramic; then we would not have had the problem. I would gladly pay more for a ceramic socket, as my daughter absolutely loves the lamp. I had to let her get a new one! September 5, 2010

Rated 1 out of 5 by Rather Annoyed Cord pictured is NOT the cord you get I ordered 3 of these specifically because the picture showed the nice round cord, but what I got was 3 cheap-looking flat double-wire versions that look like regular cheapo extension cords. So now I'm stuck with three cords too unattractive to use in the house, which I could have grabbed down at the hardware store for one-third the price. Not cool, Cost Plus. February 11, 2009
