Unfortunately, the black metal base isn't compatible with this desk top. When I went to attach the metal base to the top, I realized that the base was about four inches too short. Really disappointed that this item didn't work out because it looked so nice in store. Apparently other had the same problem with the wooden base. It's a shame because these pieces are not cheap...
