I absolutely adore this tea pot and use it daily - it holds quite a bit of tea (about 3 mugs worth) and retains heat on average with other teapots of its type. There's only one downside, and that is that if you don't empty it and dry the infuser as soon as you are done, you may find that it will rust and the hinge decays. I have removed it completely and now thread tea bags through the opening hole. I use an alternative infuser now when I need to use loose leaf tea. I have no problems with the tea pot itself staining, which is nice for those who love black tea!
