Love it As a coffee table and will use for storage May 4, 2012
Love it! I love this piece. I use it as a coffee table. The drawers are perfect for CDs & DVDs! April 2, 2012
Udon Trunk, or is it? This 2 drawer Trunk can be used for storage, a coffee table or used as a dresser for clothing. I liked the look of the trunk so much, I bought 3 trunks, I then took the feet(levelers) off 2 of the units, stacked one on top of the other, and screwed them together. Now I have a 6 drawer dresser. NICE , Solid and easy to transform. Not to mention the great price and discounts World Market offered. Next up for the Udon Trunk, I'm buying 4 more, placing 2 units side by side, and back to back, making a base for a queen size bed. I will be screwing a sheet of plywood, which will be hidden under mattress, on top of the 4 trunks for stability and support for the mattress. Now I'll have even more drawer space as well as a bed frame.... Yep, this is just a trunk, or is it :-) Things are not always what they seem......... September 24, 2011
Great design but mediocre craftsmanship I purchased two of these to create a makeshift dresser for my closet. Although I like the look of them and appreciate that the trunks were pre-assembled, I am not all that happy with the quality as the two trunks both came with cracks in the side panels. I considered returning the items but was offered an additional 17% on what was already a 50% off sale. Since the chests are being used inside of a closet and the damage not immediately visible to anyone I chose to keep them. The manger says it may be weathering that caused the damages. In all honesty I have to say that this is the first of several furniture pieces that I have purchased from this company that has not received a 5 star rating. May 4, 2012
Beautiful, but not 'expertly crafted'. I have bought 7 of these trunks on sale, so consider myself pretty well acquainted with them. Design-wise, they are certainly in the Japanese tradition and are a versatile, sleek addition to any home or office, which is why in ended up buying them. You can stack them or lay end to end by removing some of the hardware. I won't be storing heavy things in them. The quality of the wood looks smooth and refined, but is poor. Out of the 7 I bought I had to return one because it came out of the box with so many cracks the drawers wouldn't slide. 5 out of 6 that I own came with cracks in the wood - thankfully 2 were floor models, so the Manager took an additional 10% off. I will try to oil or wax them to keep them from cracking further. Design trumps quality- in this case! April 16, 2012
