Rated 4 out of 5 by color is not accurate on picture Very light weight. The color is more blue (a darker blue, not exactly turquoise). The bottom is not flat so I'm not sure it will work well on glass top stoves. August 7, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by good product for price paid This tea kettle looks exactly as pictured. it was a little lighter in weight than I had expected for enamel but still functions great. After third use I noticed a slight pin hole that water leaks out of if I leave water in it. So I just do not leave water in it. I could return it for a new one but just figured for the price I paid I would just deal with it. Looks really nice on my new cranberry stove. July 31, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Cheaply made, too light weight and you'll burn your hand on the handle I've been slowly replacing everything in my kitchen with vintage items, but the tea kettle for whatever reason was the one thing I was a little weird about getting as a "used" item. I stumbled upon this kettle and thought it would be perfect. It had exactly the right look I was going for and had a great price, too. I received it yesterday afternoon. The opening to the description of this item is: "Crafted of high quality steel with a heavy enamel glaze..." Well, lemme tell ya, this is NOT a heavy enamel job. This thing is flimsy flimsy sheet metal. I even compared it to an enameled colander I have (nothing special, just something I picked up at a flea market for $3) and it is literally 1/2 as thick. It's probably about a 1/3-1/4 as thick as one of those really nice vintage graniteware pieces it's modeled after. I wasn't super impressed with the handle, either. The design of it was one of the things that sold me when I was originally looking at it online. I just can't resist those spiral handles. But when I got it, I was very disappointed. It barely feels like anything at all. Maybe tin? Aluminum? Not substantial. But, I figured in the long run I could deal with these issues of cheap construction. Then I used it this morning. As the spout is open this puppy doesn't whistle when it's ready, you have to keep an ear out for the water boiling, which is fine, I was prepared for that. I heard it, turned my burner off, and picked the kettle up by the handle, as one is want to do. YEEEEEEWWWWOOOOOOOW!!!!! I burned my hand. SERIOUSLY, COST PLUS?! That's, like, THE WHOLE POINT of spiral handles!! And of a handle on a tea kettle in the first place!! And it's not like it'd been sitting on the burner for long. I was working around the kitchen and got to it as soon as the water started boiling; just minutes after putting it on. So, to anyone even THINKING of buying this thing, make sure you use an oven mit or tea towel when handling! July 31, 2015
