I bought this product based on reviews. I was looking for a cheat for decent butter chicken. I knew this wouldn't be it when I looked at the jar. It's yellow. Butter chicken isn't yellow. I decided to try it out anyway since everyone said it was good. It's a decent curry sauce but it's nothing like butter chicken. So, if you just want a decent curry, it will work. If you're really wanting butter chicken, you'll be very disappointed.
My family loves this, I serve it with brown popcorn rice and 3 sides, chopped cilantro, white onion and mild to hot peppers chopped as well. And of course browned chicken strips!
1. I love how easy it is, I just add chicken & veggies, and make rice for the rest of the meal.
OK, I know virtually nothing about Indian food, and have barely tried it. However, I bought this sauce because of the favorable reviews, and I am really glad I did! Is it "authentic" or the best brand out there? I have no clue! But this Tiger Tiger Butter Sauce is pretty tasty stuff, and it is so easy to make - I've only used chicken and served it over Jasmine rice, but my 17 year old son really likes it, so I'm not messing with serving it that way for now. One pan for the chicken and sauce, one pot for the rice, wash them out and do a quick clean of my white porcelain sink (hate that sink!) to get the yellow from the sauce out, and done. It's become a staple in my pantry.
We had this with chicken and veggies over rice and it was delicious! We really enjoyed it, even my kids who can be picky about spices.
I was very excited to try the Tiger Tiger sauces after reading other reviews but I was less than blown away by this. It was sort of bland and even after adding onions, jalapenos, and cilantro to try and liven it up it was still pretty blah. The Tiger Tiger Tikka Masala is quite a bit better in my opinion and the best sauce I've found at World Market yet is Mr. Kook's Butter chicken sauce. It has a great rich tomato-y taste and creamy texture. If you're looking for a good jarred Butter Chicken sauce, I suggest you try that one.
