Why We Love It

Tagine is a traditional Moroccan stew that is slow-cooked and served in a (aptly named) Terracotta Tagine like this one. This sturdy earthenware item features a shallow base and conical-shaped lid that can be used in the oven and is designed to keep foods moist while cooking. Tagines have been used for centuries around the world - we discovered this well-priced Terracotta Tagine in Portugal.

awesome tangine This tangine is a wonderful and useful addition to my kitchen. Smooth glazed finish cleans up easily every time and looks like new. My favorite dish to prepare is Morroccan chicken (or lamb) and my kids LOVE it! The meat always comes out moist and tender and the veggies all blend with the meat juices to create a rich fragrant broth. I usually serve it over rice or sautéed polenta to absorb every drop. It accommodates at least a 6lb chicken which easily serves four. If you need to stretch the servings to six then use only deboned chicken or lamb. December 8, 2014
Great Kitchen Addition I got this because a friend of mine made a chicken dish in his tagine and it was one of the best things I have ever eaten. I'm looking forward to lots of great braises this fall. The first time World Market shipped this to me, I received the item broken. I called to ask if I could return it to my local store instead of shipping it back and they said to throw it away (they didn't want anyone getting hurt on the broken pieces) and shipped me a new one right away. It's rare to get such great customer service these days. It made me love the tagine even more! September 11, 2014
Terra cotta Tagine - LOVE IT!!! What can I say... I absolutely love my tagine. After I seasoned it (instructions NOT included), I've used it at least once or twice a week and love how everything has come out. I throw everything in and it comes out perfect. April 23, 2014
Beautiful Tagine at Lowest Price Available! This is a gorgeous tagine, and large enough to make a meal for 4 hungry people. I did season it by immersing both top and bottom in water for a couple of hours, and then baking it (starting with a cold oven) at 200F for an hour (leaving the tagine in the oven after I turned the oven off, overnight). I haven't cooked in it, just used it as a serving dish, so I can't comment on that; however, I do believe that it would do well in a 300F oven (perhaps higher), and I probably will buy a heat diffuser so I can use it on the stove top. Google for tagine care before you cook in it -- it does require some basic prep and care, but nothing you can't deal with, just information you should know. You cannot get a tagine for a lower price, and it truly is very beautiful. Very fast shipping, excellent customer service. I have since purchased many other pieces from World Market, and I could not be happier! February 28, 2014
Tangine is fabulous! The color, size and expectations were all met. Would recommend this without hesitation. October 10, 2013
Awesome I purchase one in my vacation to NewPort News VA to visit my daughter and she took me shopping that is when I saw the tangine and told her I need to get one , I have see then on line but this time I got one took it home and my husband cook on this pot all the time, he said the food taste different, he even make beef rib and taste better than in the regular oven since we can't BBQ in the condo that we leave in it. He cooks more often . This is a most pot that you need in your kitchen September 11, 2013
love the tagine. foods taste great. The tagine works great and the food is fantastic. The only thing was I got no instructions with the tagine. I had to go online to find out how to use it. It has to be soaked overnight for the first time and I was not sure if it needs a diffusor so I just used one. July 24, 2013
I Love my Terracotta Tagine First and foremost you must soak the tagine overnight in water. Then cure in oven for 2 hours, not preheated oven. put it in the oven before preheating and let it heat up with the oven, once it has been in the oven for 2 hours turn the oven off but leave Tagine in oven so it cools as the oven cools--then you are ready to cook. I make a lot of Moroccan meals in it and I really like it--I do not use it on my stovetop only in oven. December 9, 2011
