I recently moved into a smaller apartment, with a smaller Living Room space, and I wanted something that would function well as a sofa, while still providing an extra bed for out-of-town guests. I priced MANY futons, both on-line and in brick-and-mortar stores. Nearly every futon I looked at was either too big or way to pricey. And then, like Goldilocks, I found this, and it is just right. Assembly was relatively easy, but because the pieces are a little awkward in size, I would recommend two people assemble it. The cushions are very comfy. The design is GORGEOUS. It has a nice, minimal design - compact, while still being classy.

Many other reviews here are noting that, after putting the slipcover in the washing machine, it no longer fits the mattress. THAT'S BECAUSE IT IS COTTON AND IT WILL SHRINK IF YOU PUT IT IN A WASHING MACHINE!!!! The directions CLEARLY state, "DRY CLEAN ONLY". So those complaining about the slipcover should be mindful of the fact that they did NOT follow the cleaning instructions!! I am keeping a blanket on it for daily use at home, and removing blanket when friends are over. It was the PERFECT purchase for what I need. I couldn't be happier. GREAT product, World Market!!

Buyer beware: The cover and pillows come apart after you wash them.

The pillows and the cover are covering what look like sheets of cotton--when you wash the pillow covers and the cover for the bed, you will not be able to use this product.

I was not able to return the product as I am out of the 60 day return policy and no replacement covers for the pillows are available for purchase.

It is better to purchase something else. Otherwise, you're stuck with a dirty cover and pillows or an unusable pile of cotton.

The frame is nice... but now it's useless.

Comments about Studio Day Sofa:

I've had this for a few years now, about 4 or so. It has been amazing. I received it as a gift going into college and it has been put through a lot but still stands strong. Also whenever friends would spend the night in our dorm/apartment/where-ever, they were always fighting over who got to sleep on the futon over the couch or blow up bed. That's how comfortable it is! Definitely a great investment for anyone, whether it's looking for something to be used frequently or for style. I couldn't have found a better futon/sofa/day-bed.

Comments about Studio Day Sofa:

LOVE that the covers are removable and washable. Folded polyfill insides can easily be firmed up or replaced with fill found easily at any craft or sewing supply store.
Attractive frame is very sturdy (& heavy) and adjusting sides up or down is very simple.
Covers can be ordered in different colors from World Market.

From Home to College and back again

Comments about Studio Day Sofa:

This futon spent years in my loft providing a place for my nephews to sleep. I made a denim cover to go over the white. The next thing you know, they are grown, my niece is off to college and taking my futon with her. Dorm rooms, Sorority House, Campus apartments. It was lovingly relocated time and time again. I didn't think I would ever have it back. It arrived home last week in excellent condition sans the cover. My sister washed it and the zipper , got off track, for the life of me (an advanced sewer) I could not get it work. I was happy to see I could purchase another cover but shocked at the price of said cover. I will wait until it goes on sale .

TERRIBLE

Comments about Studio Day Sofa:

I bought this couch because it was a great size and thought it would be idea for conversion into a daybed. The zipper falls apart on the cover, rendering the entire cover useless. They sell replacement covers, of course, with the same faulty zipper, for $99. Complete waste of money. Do not recommend.

Just what we wanted

Comments about Studio Day Sofa:

We purchased this 4 months ago and love it. It's unique and sturdy. Only one comment. Slip covers are dry clean only? As a foster home for little dogs, not being able to wash or spot clean is frustrating. So, I'm going to use the slip covers we purchased until they need to be replaced and make my own. If your considering purchasing this sofa, you're going to enjoy the versitality and comfort this little sofa.

Basic Affordable Settee/Extra Bed

By

Comments about Studio Day Sofa:

I have friends who had this piece in their living room as a second sofa and it worked for them for at least 6 years. I slept on it overnight once and it was fine, though not exactly a feather mattress.

The settee I received looks identical to the one in the photo, and to the one my friends had. Pillows seem to stay put when sitting on it, and it was cozy to lounge around on with my feet up on one end and leaning back on the other. I also laid down to try a nap on it testing it out flat, and promptly fell asleep, so that was good. It's cheaply made, and if it were lower priced I could give it 4 or 5 stars. I needed a loveseat for my shoebox studio apartment, and I also needed a guest bed--there are not many options out there for this simple-aesthetic, double-purpose/tiny size/on a budget, and this fits the bill.

I wish the frame was painted white and I wish there was a natural flax or linen pillow cover option. I cannot imagine purchasing a mallard colored cover. I am using it without covers and the look of the off-white cotton zippered under-covers is a bit unfinished. Once the tags are removed it will look a little better.

Poor Quality

Comments about Studio Day Sofa:

I bought this day sofa about 3 months ago. It is in a room that gets limited use. I can count on two hands the number of times it has been sat/slept on. Today I noticed a large crack in the wood back frame piece. I am not sure how/when it happened, but with a no children to blame and very light use, I have to conclude the materials are substandard.

Beside that, the sofa is actually quite comfortable and looks nice, but a waste of $400.
