These jars exceeded expectations. I was looking for glass square stackable containers to create a kitchen backsplash with ingredients. They are slightly wobbly and don't lock in, but are fairly stable on top of one another. I'd recommend not picking them up by the lids because they can slip off, but they do appear to be airtight. Best value I've found.

Highly recommend if being air tight is not important. These have sleek modern lines lending to easy clean up & a modern look. If you are short on space in the kitchen this will help with that. They are compact & do stack nicely atop of each other. The glass is thick & durable. I can see it lasting years, even with a few bumps & bangs. These would also be well used in the bathroom to store swabs, etc., if a clean & modern style fits your decor.

I really wanted to love these. I was keeping everything I could crossed that the "air tight" claims were true & was so disappointed to find out that are not.

To start with I ordered 1 dozen of the various sizes. They were received in 3 HUGE boxes & packaged very well. Overkill. My UPS guy laughed when he saw what was in 1 box (he was curious what could be in such a huge box & feel like almost nothing). I guess my previous complaints on poor packaging & broken goods were taken to heart! Thanks WM, but let's be sensible now.

I'm experiencing some major tropical weather where the humidity is killer, so the very first thing I did was unwrap a jar & take it over to the kitchen sink for the air tight test (submerge it under water & see if water gets in). I didn't even need to do that. I had been interrupted & left the jar w/ lid on in the sink. Later I noticed that water was in the jar just from running the tap a few seconds over the lid. I unwrapped a few more jars & all failed. It was not a surprise as the rubber ring was around the lip of the jar is very stiff & the lid comes off quite easily.

Later I came across a manufacturer's response to a complaint about other supposed "air tight" jars not being so & failing the water test I had performed. They basically said that the jars are "air tight," that if one did not want liquids to enter that they would need a hermetically sealed jar. That left me scratching my head. I mean if a seal is tight enough not to let an air molecule in, shouldn't it be able to prevent liquids from entering? In effort to be fair I decided to test them out another way. I just so happened to be restoring my desiccant (I have the little blue balls that turn pink when they suck up the moisture from the AIR). I filled the jar with the freshly restored desiccant & put in the cupboard where I would store my food. Long story short my blue balls turned pink! Which means that air was getting in & that these are NOT air tight (there was enough desiccant in there that little air trapped in the jar with them would not have caused as much change as occurred over the several days). They lasted several days longer than just an open bowl I have in the linen & accessory closets, much larger spaces by volume & completely open, so... if you want fresh food for items that will be stored more than a few days these are not a good buy no matter how cheap they are. The salt I took from an old Tupperware container also clumped up. There was no such problem when stored in the Tupperware for a significant time longer.

Am not looking forward to the hassle of those HUGE boxes. Will at least be able to use 2 or 3 for my Borax & Washing Powder that do not require absolutely freshness.

btw... these may not be good for households with little ones who may try to help themselves to whatever goodies that you have stored in them or for anyone who is busy & may be absent minded enough to grab the jar by the top instead of the jar itself. I can see lots of spills & tipping over when in a rush, as the lid comes off fairly easily & especially so on tile.

Love these!

These stackable jars have such a tight fitting lid to keep moisture and air out. I love the square and fits nicely on my counter top. Though I do wish they were a bit wider, I can fit a 1/2 cup measure in it but not a full cup. But for the price and weight of these, they are the best on the market that I have found. Price is great and it arrived quickly to even going across the country. Though I wished I had gone to the store first because they were in stock there. I didn't think they would have them. But the shipping fee was not too bad to pay.

great storage

These are very functional! When I got tired of storing my cereal bags and raisins bag in a basket on top of the fridge these came to the rescue! Really makes my kitchen look so much more organized and I enjoy using them to make my cereal in the morning. I also use one to store tea. They are very sturdy and made of thick glass. You can stack them but they don't lock in together and are easily knocked over. Definitely wait for their 20% sales to happen.

great value

I first purchased a few of these when I was on vacation in CA and packed them for the 3000 mile journey home. One had broken ( I dropped it at home) and I finally got around to ordering more. I ordered many more. They were all packed so well and I honestly thought the amount they charged to handle and ship the items was more than fair! Not one broke, cracked, etc... Love this store and will look to buying more items again! Thank you!

I love these jars!

I have been looking for a unique glass square jar for my scrubs and I'm so happy my hair stylist recommended this company to me.

I ordered the 2 smallest sizes as I wasn't certain which one would be best, and I love them both!

I love that they are not the typical round glass jar. They have a nice flat base making them the perfect vessel to use for stacking/displaying many items, and they have good weight to them, so they are sturdy, but are not too heavy.

I am using mine (the 27oz.) on a glass shelf in the Master bath to hold my salt scrub, and it blends in well with my other crystal accessories.

When they arrived to my home, the packaging on these was much more than had I expected. They were wrapped so well - I appreciate the care and effort it took to do this to ensure these products arrived safely and quickly - which they did!

The only negative I can say, is that I wish a bulk discount would be offered, however, the prices are very good for ordering smaller quantities.

Overall, I am truly happy and impressed with this company and this product, so much so, that I am placing another order for more of these jars today! I love them! Thank you World Market for offering these items and for your quick service!

Poor quality

By

These jars looked great and I hoped they would provide a space-efficient and attractive storage solution for pantry items. I purchased 4 jars of various sizes in store to test them out. I am glad I did not purchase more!

Before unwrapping the first jar once I got home, I gently set it down on my wood-topped kitchen island. BAM! One corner of the jar completely shattered, revealing glass of VERY uneven thickness. One side was a normal 1-2 mm thick, the other was practically paper-thin. No big surprise that it broke with the lightest of touches. I assumed the uneven thickness and poor quality was a manufacturing defect limited to the one jar.

After cleaning the other 3 jars, I placed a bag of sugar inside one jar, then placed it in a cabinet. BAM! Broken! Same exact issue - the glass was extremely thin and weak along the rounded corner of the jar. Just setting it down inside cabinet caused large chunks of glass to break off. Thank God I left the sugar inside its bag or I would have had a glass AND sugar mess to clean up.

Maybe the store I visited has a bad batch of these jars, but there is no way the ones I got could stand up to normal pantry use. They look pretty, but turned out to be a waste of money.
