Rated 5 out of 5 by Ozols Best in its class! Not everyone appreciates canned smoked fish, but if you do, you can't do better than Rīga Smoked Sprats! A staple in Latvia and a delicacy everywhere else, these are the best in their class. I have yet to taste a kippered herring that can hold a candle to these. What makes these sprats special is their texture, color and aroma: they are smooth and delicate, you can spread them like butter if you like, bones and all, which you can't even feel. They are headless, gutted little fishies packed well over a dozen in a tin, all neatly laid in alternating rows. They have a beautiful, golden color and a nice, natural smoke aroma (probably alder wood), unlike the "smoke flavoring" often added to other products. Worldmarket has the best price outside of Latvia I have seen in a few years; if they don't raise it, I will be a loyal customer coming back for many more! October 18, 2015

The cans came packed in plastic, only a couple of dents, no leaking and ready to open and serve. I was missing Latvia, and this took me right back. They are rich, delicate and packed in oil. I make a lemon, mayo sauce to accompany them on toast points and they are a delicacy in our home. January 9, 2015
