I was looking for lamps that didn't fit that ordinary mold, something different... I definitely found that with these lamps. I loved the pics of them online, I love them even more in person. They give my guest bedroom an unordinary, peaceful beauty. Masculine, yet feminine. I purchased the Edison bulb shown online with the lamps which help give a soft glow from the open-air riveted table lamp shades I purchased to go with them. They also add a conversation piece to the room. I am super happy with this purchase. I recommend them, and would purchase them again.

I ordered this online so I wasn't able to try it out with different shades to see what would look good. The lamp base looks decent. I also ordered the Off-white cotton linen shade to go with it. Although the shade does fit the lamp, because it is is the type without a harp, it sits pretty low on the lamp and I'm not crazy about the way it looks. If I had been able to try out shades in the store, I think I would have bought another style. This lamp has the switch on the cord, which seems odd to me, but I guess that is so you wouldn't have to shove your hand up into the shade to find the switch if you used the type of shade without a harp.

Truly, the base is beautiful and as pictured - But the shade is not as pictured - you'll need a harp (NOT included) to raise the shade as pictured. Otherwise a World Market shade sits low under the bulb. And there are no shades at World Market that accommodate a harp. Buyer, beware.
