Comments about Red 6-Cup Stovetop Moka Pot Espresso Maker:

I've tried every brewing method for coffee: pour over, french press, aeropress, drip, cheap espresso machine, mesh pouch. I thought this "moka pot" style of brewing was antiquated and usually rather expensive, so I haven't tried it till now. Got this on sale to use a coupon that was expiring, and I was blown away! Seriously, this has become my favorite coffeemaker, producing a better cup than my previous favorite french press. Coffee is the most rich and thick, perfect balance of body, acidity, sweetness, and bitterness. It makes a cleaner cup than french press (much less "sludge" in the bottom) while not using paper filters.

The only cons are that 1) you have to watch over the pot to get the heat off at the right moment. Using a timer doesn't guarantee results, and it doesn't make a loud enough sound to alert you if you're far away 2) It should be cleaned as soon as possible, as moisture reacts with the aluminum. You can't clean it till it cools down, so this can take some time as well. Both of these cons make it a great weekend or leisurely morning coffeemaker, but not great for making a quick cup before rushing off to work/school.

I should note that this (and other moka-style makers) does not actually make espresso, just a much better cup of regular coffee. Look up videos and background articles on moka pots to learn why.
