Rated 4 out of 5 by Bec215d Lovely, and color as pictured, very lightweight These are very comfortable, supportive chairs - they were my husband's choice, and the first time he felt strongly about any piece of furniture! The color is very close to what's pictured, though in daylight they have a slightly more greenish tinge (teal) than the photo, but not a big deal. Super-easy to assemble in about 5-10 min. CONSTRUCTION: The description says the frame is birch, so I was surprised to unzip the dust cover and find what appeared to be plywood (stacked and bonded layers of wood veneers). However, doing a quick Google search, i found out this actually prevents warping and bending, and is preferred for many construction projects like cabinetry. This is not the cheap plywood made from soft woods, but rather birch plywood. The legs appear to be solid birch. My old chairs were oak, very heavy and felt like you couldn't every destroy them. These do not feel very substantial, but I went to several furniture stores looking at chairs, and all the chairs under $275/ea. were like this one. BIRCH WOOD INFO Birch is a hardwood, and is also a rapid-growing tree so is considered very sustainable, which is likely a reason the chairs use birch - birch is probably most associated with IKEA because the light blond wood is beautiful on its own, without a stain - but doesn't mean it's 'cheap'... plenty of high-end furniture is also made of birch! FABRIC & FINISH The details and seams are neat, solid, and the fabric was unblemished, and no defects. The legs had a few small rough patches where the weren't fully sanded on the finest grain, before they were lacquered, but not enough to give you a splinter. PRICE & VALUE I got them on sale for $275/pair after tax. I think it's a fair price for the quality and style, and the fact that unlike a more expensive padded chair, it can't be easily restuffed or bolstered if it starts to sag - which means we'll probably not use them as everyday seating like we did our old chairs. All in all, beautiful and stylish and affordable, just what I've come to expect from WM. January 11, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by MYU27 Beautiful Chairs! I bought these chairs as pop color for my dining room. I love the color but the only issue is the seat height, I wish they were 2" higher because compare to my table the sit low. Otherwise the chairs are great! January 2, 2014
