This is the closest if not the same that my Papa made. My father learned his baking trade in Germany in the 1920's. He opened a German Bakery in SLC, Utah in the 1950's. Having Stollen was a tradition for the Christmas season. This Stollen has made the tradition continue and many fond memories in our German home. I hope you never stop carrying Oebel Marzipan Stollen because it is the best I have found.
What a lovely combination of favorite treats... stollen and marzipan! I share it only if someone visits in the short time between opening the package and devouring the whole thing! One of my favorite Christmas comfort foods!
I've been buying three of these annually for as long as I can remember. I serve them to colleagues as a thank-you. This morning when I sliced them for serving, one of the three was covered with mold. Two were fine. Very disappointed. The expiration date is still three months away!
How can you go wrong with something with Marzipan in it? These are moist, fresh, and delicious. I ordered these for Christmas presents and people loved them. It's a winner I'll look forward to again next year.
Both my husband and I grew up having stollen during the holidays. I have tried other brands and this is the closest I have found to the ones our families purchased in NY. Bought this when we lived in MI and now that we are in AL, I was very glad to find it here too.
Love the stollen every Christmas............no Christmas without a stollen,
I have been buying these stollens for years and the hoidays would not be the same without them. Warmed in the microwave, or toasted in the toaster oven and then spread with a little butter and they are marvelous. Omit the butter if you want, and they are still great. There are several flavors and every one of them are absolutely wonderful. I purchase many of them every year and give them as gifts and have gotten raves about them back from the recipients.
