This shade has a really nice look to it with the burlap but you can definitely see the light bulb through the shade when the light is turned on. This shade would be perfect if it were lined.

This shade needs an opaque liner. The clear, shiny plastic liner ruins the look of the shade. You can see the shape of the light bulb through the shade, and the bulb actually glares off the the shade liner. The shade is not as described. The outside of the shade is really nice.
