Mika Folding Chairs, Set of 2 4 5 2 2
Comfortable and solid construction Comfortable dining seating. Excellent construction with solid hardware. I love the dark color. I have had them for 1 week. The sun on the deck is intense so I hope the color holds. August 16, 2014
3 stars for lack of sealant on wood and sticky folding mechanism I watched this set for a while until it went on sale. I purchased the rectangular Mika folding table and 2 chair sets. I purchased them in store to avoid delivery surcharges. The store associate, while friendly, was adamant that the chairs were sold separately at $59 a piece, when in reality they are in fact sold in twos. No big, just thought he should've been more knowledgable. No one helped me to the car. Again, whatever. Got the table and chairs home and started unpacking and assembling in my yard. A few drops of water fell from one of our taller trees, and an instant pale bare wood spot appeared where the water hit the table. As an outdoor set, one would've expected the wood to at least have a sealer applied to it. I will have to poly it or something before I use it outside and I suggest other buyers do the same. You will have to use an oil based sealant as a water based one may effect the finish. Also, only one of the chairs folded back up easily. The other triggers on the folding part of the chairs needed to be coaxed back into place, and I caught my finger several times. The table, which is no longer listed online, seemed very flimsy. I had a hard time getting the folding part of the table to securely screw together, as if it was stripped. I will have to go to the hardware store and see if I can't find another set of bolts that will work better. Other than that, I love the look. I just wish it was better made for outdoor purposes. Why not seal the wood? Even if they did that to sell furniture covers, what if a cold glass of water was placed on it? Doesn't that seem like a no-brainer? I'm glad I didn't purchase at full price.
