I purchased one of these for my husband several years ago and he uses it all the time. The paint had started to flake off from so much use that I replaced it.

Attractive, colorful, sturdy, easy to clean, no odor, no fruit flies! What more can I say? This is at least our third compost bin. . .we've had another metal bin (that split), a bamboo bin (that split) and this one. So far, so good! Daily use, emptied at least three times weekly. So far, so good. We do use liners (also purchased at World Market), but liquid occasionally collects in the bottom. Easy to wash and dry when changing liners. And it makes for a happy counter!

This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. Empty, it's lightweight, but totally sturdy and well made. I've noticed that some folks think the lid itself comes apart to change the charcoal filters- no. That's why there's a good sized opening under the weight in the lid to pull out the old filter and put in the new. The weighted lid keeps everything tightly closed, no struggling to get the lid off.
I saw that the 'label' is actually a decal, which can come off if exposed to a lot of soapy water. I taped mine off, leaving about an eighth of an inch of red showing, sprayed a couple coats with Clear Acrylic Coating and using a little common sense, the 'label' should last.

I've been using some kind of garbage bowl or bucket ever since Rachel Ray come on TV with her garbage bowl. Never did like the putting of garbage in the waste basket. I had seen red buckets before we did the kitchen remodel but didn't buy one knowing I wasn't sure if I wanted a "Red" one. The kitchen is finished and yes, I was putting touches of red in the kitchen. No world market in Maple grove MN any more and I could not find a red bucket. Now your back in Maple Grove and guess what I got for Christmas!!

This is the third compost bucket we've tried. Did the Norpro ceramic-fruit flies! Another cute 'Farmhouse Compost Pail', I think is what it was called-fruit flies! Hopefully, third time's the charm and I'm not jinxing myself by writing this. I've found that the lid of compost pails HAS TO HAVE A GREAT SEAL. Those first two had gaps, minuscule and a little bigger than minuscule, but still big enough for the flies to come out. It's not the vent holes. It's the rim of the lid. I picked up every one of these pails that they had in the store and checked the lid. Moved them around as much as I could to see which one had the least amount of play. The one we came home with seems to be keeping the critters out or at least keeping them in. We haven't had any fruit flies showing up to eat with us at dinner. The design is cute, good 'worn' paint job. All around loving the pail. I'm sure I'll come home to a ton of fruit flies now, but till I get there, I love the pail!

We are trying to be more environmental and this helps us do that! The charcoal filter cuts down on our trips to the compost pile with our vegetable waste.

I was looking for a kitchen compost bucket that I could keep on the counter, look nice and keep the odor down. I searched the internet and found this metal compost bucket and fell in love with the red! The label is painted on, the bucket does not stain my counter top when it comes in contact with water and the filter keeps the odor in the container 100%. The handle makes it easy to carry out to the compost pile. I am extremely happy with this product and would recommend this to anyone looking for one.
