I LOVE this soup, but I've created my own version over the past few years. I start with a pre-chopped mirepoux soup base (chopped onions, celery & carrots) and saute in olive oil for 10 minutes. Then add a carton of chicken stock and about half the recommend water and bring to boil. Next I add LOTS of veggies (brussel sprouts, mushrooms, kale, green beans ... even edamame) and let it all cook for half an hour or so. Sometimes I add sausage, but usually not. Start-to-finish it takes a little over an hour to make a huge pot of soup that provides dinner 3+ nights a week for a household of two. I wait for the 10% off coupons and purchase 8-10 packages a time.

This soup was awesome. I made a few changes, which I think went a long way toward addressing issues raised by other consumers. Instead of water I used chicken broth. I also added two cans of pinto beans and an extra cup of rice, as well as some shrimp and andouille sausage. It came out nice and dense rather than soupy, and was a good level of spicy. I sprinkled in some cayenne papper and a teaspoon of Tapatio as well. I highly recommend this product. My family loved it. It made six large bowls of stew. I can't wait to eat my leftovers for lunch!

I substituted a vegetarian chicken substitute for real chicken, added a little oil (to replace the natural oil of chicken) and a little chicken bouillon to enhance the flavor of chicken. I tried the soup on my meat-eating friends and they loved it. They didn't know it had no meat (until they saw me eating it too!). I added no seasoning because the spice level out of the package was good for this group. It was a perfect repast after church with some hot french bread and sweet tea!

I love soup and could eat is 24/7. This is the best package soup I have ever had. Much better than Harry and David. I pretty much prepared it following the package direction with the exception I substituted chicken stock for the water. added smoked sausage. The soup is absolutely the best and I will continue to buy this and the others.

We like this soup mix as it extremely easy to use and has a great flavor.
The only negative comment is that is has waaaaay toooo much salt. It could have half the amount of salt and allow the user to "salt to taste".

I bought this (along with a few others) when World Market was having a sale on these. This was by far my favorite. I added a TON of salad shrimp to it since I didn't have sausage. Just the right amount of spice. This stuff seriously makes enough jambalaya for a family of 4 for 2-3 DAYS (unless that family includes 3 linebackers)! I got pretty tired of it after 3 days of having it for lunch and dinner. It is good, but not that good. I am sad that I had to throw away the rest, but that's just too much jambalaya for one person. Anyways I feel accomplished that I "made" some darn good soup. I'll probably have to find a way to quarter the recipe next time so I don't have to force stuff my face with it for DAYS on end.
