I've tried Dutch Oven Favorites Chicken Cacciatore and Beef Burgundy and both were excellent. So I tried Chicken & Dumplings and it wasn't even edible. We picked out the chicken and ate that and filled up on cornbread that I made as a backup as my husband is not fond of dumplings. The dumplings were hard, wet and doughy, the spices smelled horrendous and the vegetables were like wood, never absorbed any liquid and didn't cook. I have Chicken Marsala and Butternut Squash Wild Rice in the pantry and I am really hoping they will be as good as the Beef Burgundy and Chicken Cacciatore.
This was so easy to make and the taste was great. The only problem was the vegetables in the vegetable mix didn't cook enough adding them according to the directions. Next time I'll add the veggie packet sooner.
Since the Chicken Marsala is so delicious I decided to try the Chicken & Dumplings. It was easy to prepare (I used chicken breasts), but compared to the Marsala I was just a little disappointed. My husband & I both enjoyed it so I'll make it again, but I still like the Marsala better.
The chicken and dumplings taste very good and was easy to make
