Love my new bed! I just got this bed for my new apartment, on sale and with a coupon! Such a great deal for this piece! The bed is pretty tall with the box spring and the mattress but it totally doesn't bother me! I love it! I am so glad I bought this bed, it's perfect in my room! March 28, 2013
Love it! Absolutely love this bed, it's even better in person than the pictures depict. If you use this bed with both mattress and box spring it's extremely high (I'd need a ladder haha) so I made the decision to use just the mattress. It's incredibly sturdy and I've had no problems with the slat support system whatsoever. It's still quite tall with just a mattress alone though, I literally have to jump into bed but the height makes it that much better and more expensive looking. Overall amazing bed! March 27, 2013
Even better in person! After sleeping on a plain box spring and mattress with no footboard or headboard for 18 years of marriage, the Julian bed made a very boring bedroom look luxurious and visually pleasing. It is much nicer in person. Very sturdy. We use it with both our box springs and mattress and it makes for a very high bed, but that's what makes it so luxurious-looking and the focal point of the room. You could always just use a mattress with it to make it lower if you like a lower bed. Love the distressed finish. Classic lines. Beautiful. Easy to assemble. Got it for half off plus another 10% off coupon made it a steal. Can't say enough good things about it! March 10, 2013
Gorgeous and well-made Finally set up the bed that we purchased on sale at our local World Market store. It's just gorgeous! Very solid, heavy, and sturdy. The slats seem solid too. I was worried about the weight of our heavy latex foam mattress plus two people on it, but only the slightest creaking from the wood slats. It was also very easy to put together (hallelujah for sensible directions included). My only complaint is that at the ends of the bed the slat support system stops short and leaves a few inches of nothing. For our memory foam mattress this is especially apparent when we sit on the foot of the bed or the corner. Much different feel from the full support of a box spring. We've only slept on the bed for one night so far, so I hope this problem doesn't present itself to be very large! To solve the problem we'd have to use the box spring, but the bed would be ridiculously high off the ground (and hiding the beautiful headboard) if we did. February 21, 2013
Julian Bed I love this bed. It is very sturdy and with the mattress and box it sets up high. So if you want a lower bed don't use a box springs or foundation. Comments on here about the slats falling out. The bed is very well designed and includes the tools to tighten all connections. A screwdriver is needed to install the screws through the slats to fasten them to the frame. If the instructions are followed I can not figure how the slats can fall out. I have children and a dog that jump into the bed and it doesn't budge. The bed is big and the store staff was able to load it into a Honda Element without the packaging. You really do need a pickup to haul this bed. But, it is worth the effort. I put this bed together with someone holding the headboard upright. Hooked the rails into the headboard then into the footboard and then tightened them down at both ends. This put less stress on the rails than fastening them all the way into the headboard first. Really a beautiful, simple, elegant bed After carefully looking for a bed to fit our smaller bedroom, we came across the Julian bed. The delivery was prompt and everything came in great condition. We were able to put it together very easily and while it's not as sturdy as our other bed, it does hold up wonderfully and is very comfortable. You don't need a box spring, and the headboard is really beautiful. We are very happy with our purchase and look forward to buying more great pieces from World Market!!! January 24, 2013
Beautiful timeless bed! I searched high & low for a bed with bottom storage drawers. I stopped by CPWM & saw THIS Julian bed. I returned (& returned) to the store because I wanted it. I didn't buy it at 1st because it didn't have bottom storage drawers. Then, it dawned on me. The bottom part of this bed is high enough to insert 8 baskets underneath. With the sale price and coupon provided, this queen size bed was SOLD! It only "appears" expensive. I'm 44 yrs old, 5'0" tall & a little over 100 lbs. This bed was easy (but heavy) to assemble. Instructions state 2 people should assemble this bed on hard flooring (if I remember correctly). I assembled this bed alone, on carpet, & placed mattress on top (with a very painful back muscle spasm) because I didn't want to wait for my husband to arrive home from out-of-state. You won't need a mattress base (unless you want a very high bed). I did it VERY slowly & crawled on the carpet. Took me a little over 2 hrs. Without any aches or pains, it'll probably take you less time to assemble. Instructions were VERY easy to follow, however, I pre-drilled the wooden planks onto the middle and side wooden rails of the bed. In woodshop, I worked a lot with dark woods. They are my favorite! I love the headboard's dark wooden planks, each imperfection, the cut, & the timelessness about this bed. Reminds me of the beds in the countryside of Europe, but without being country-specific. My 3-yr old daughter (who wears a size 6) LOVES this bed. My daughter jumps on the bed, and my husband is 6'0" tall, over 250 lbs of muscle, and the bed has held up so far. My daughter will likely inherit this bed. I'm SO glad I found and bought this bed! Highly recommended... December 26, 2012
Love this bed My husband and I bought this bed a week agonand love it. The bed was easy to put together and looks beautifulnin our room. The only issue we had was that we just bought a new mattress and box spring and the bed is too high to use the box spring. Our mattress is 12inches high and box spring is 9 inches high and once placed on bed the top of the mattress was about 4 1/2 feet high. You can use the bed without a box spring, so just keep in mind you will need to store your box spring. Our bed is on carpet so we have not had any issues as stated in the other reviews. I would suggest placing a non skid thick rug under the center support if placing on hardwood to prevent the problems others stated in their reviews. Overall I love the bed and it looks beautiful in our home. December 22, 2012
