Assembly Takes Forever This has been mentioned in other reviews, but assembly for table alone was about 4-5 hours. It takes forever. You will need a stronger glue than what comes with the set. You may need some longer screws too. Once we had it together and then looked at it, I was disappointed. The black distress marks are too patterned. They don't look natural at all. When the extensions were out, the table did not seem sturdy and we have lots of kids and we need sturdy! I really wanted to like this table, but we sent it back. Which meant some more hours of disassembly and repacking. Customer service was very nice. And the actual color of the table was quite nice. Just not what we were looking for overall. April 16, 2013
Not all it's cracked up to be For starters, assembly was a nightmare, along the lines of 4-5 hours. Longer if you're not handy. Be prepared for hundreds *and hundreds* of little screws, dowels coming out of your ears, and one miniature bottle of "wood" glue (elmer's) to hold this sucker together. If you do purchase this, my only advice is make sure you realize that some screws are SLIGHTLY longer than the others, and if you use one in the incorrect place, you're prone to screw right through the veneer. Then there's the look. Subjectively, the table *looks* like wood veneer. Edges of the table have a hint of fray to them, and it just doesn't have a substantial feel (like the Saurav, which we also own). Chairs seem sturdy enough, and we really liked the shape. More objectively, the rustic scratches you see in the photo are a PATTERN. That means each chair has nearly the exact same scratches (top, front, and back), as does the top of the table. Let me repeat, there's a CLEAR PATTERN of wolverine-style scratches and scoop-indentations; two distinct styles of scratches repeated over and again. Same with the table legs (every corner has matching "distressed" markings). All these "natural" distressed marks were also stained darker *after* production, so the staining on the marks clearly bleeds into the orange(r) table stain. Not too convincing. Also, don't plan on using the table without the extensions. The finishing is poor to fair on the exposed edge of the table when the extensions are out. All that being said, we planned to live with it. But this past weekend, some guests actually commented on the pattern. Deal breaker. We're going to do everything we can to return it. March 23, 2013
Impossible to assemble We bought this table and we were very excited until it arrived. The table takes hours to assemble - which we were ready for - but the legs are a big design flaw. The screws and pegs are not sufficient to hold the table together. Also, we thought the quality of the table was lacking, we ended up spending the extra $500 to buy a table that was sturdier/easier to assemble. We ended up returning the table. The one good point was the customer service at World Market, they are very nice and attentive. February 25, 2013
