Rated 2 out of 5 by Inexpensive, but you get what you pay for I bought this French press about 9 months ago in the store. It's probably the least expensive French press I've ever seen, but you definitely get what you pay for. I had a small Bodum press before, but the carafe broke on a camping trip. The quality of the Bodum press compared to this one is very evident. This press lets some coffee grounds escape into your coffee, the lid doesn't fit tightly and won't stay completely on, and finally, the weld/solder on the press broke after probably a dozen or so uses. I thought about fixing it with some JB Weld, but honestly, this press is so inexpensive, I didn't think it was worth purchasing the stuff to fix it. I'm going back to Bodum instead. If you can't stomach the price of one of their presses, though, this one *does* work (just not as well), and for about a quarter of the price. If the weld didn't break, I'd have continued to use it and probably would have given it 4 stars. April 6, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not a true 3-cup size As far as ability to get the job done, this press does decently. It functions as you would expect a French press to. My reason for the low review is it's much bigger than it should be for being advertised as a standard 3-cup (12oz) French press. I bought this online to replace my Bodum 3-cup French press and was quite disappointed in the size of it. The fully compressed press compresses to fit over the correct measurement for ground coffee but the carafe is much too large for water to coffee ground proportions. Another issue is the guide hole is too large and makes pressing wobbly and unstable. Yes -- this press will make coffee, but would I recommend it? No. If it weren't for the cost to return it was the same price as the press I would have returned it. Oh well. It is a cheap French press and it does work, but you get what you pay for.
