Bell jars from a scientific supply company can cost hundreds but for many purposes, these will do just fine. I've ordered 25 of the large size and 2 of the small and all arrived well packaged and intact. One thing worth noting is that the dimensions given refer to the interior dimensions, not the the external ones. So the 11" cloches are 14.5" tall and the 7.5" size is 10.25" tall. These are not made of borosilicate (Pyrex) so I would not attempt to heat these in an oven or autoclave.

This cloche more than meets my expectations. It has a good heavy weight,not thin like so many others i've seen and owned. I use it for terrarium lid and it's perfect!
