This sideboard is a really nice rustic piece without being overdone. It has a lot of steps to put it together compared to the Garner table, benches, and chairs, but it's easy to follow the directions. We did have 1 drawer rail come bent, but we were able to get it back to straight and it seems to work just fine.

It looks great with the rest of the Garner pieces too, plus it offers plenty of storage space! The piece is definitely solid and seems like is should hold up well.

I want to preface this review by saying that we have purchased a LOT of furniture from World Market, in fact our whole dining room is from World Market. I ordered two of these cabinets, as they match our Garner chairs and Gresyon dining table perfectly.

They look nice in the room but, if given a choice, I would not purchase these again. Let's start with shipping: both pieces were shipped via Fed Ex, the boxes arrived damaged and one came with the top completely open. One cabinet arrived without issues but the other one had the corners broken off on both of the back panels (we are still waiting on the replacement parts).

The cabinet that came with all pieces intact we assembled first. This is the first World Market products that was a real pain to assemble. Even though the holes were aligning correctly, we had a LOT pf problems trying to get the screws attaching the top of the cabinet to the rest of it to bite correctly. Finally, for about 50% of them we had to take the washers off to get the screws to bite properly- and this was only after we removed the bottom part of the cabinet and attached the top first (contrary to instructions). Attaching the top, following the instruction simply would not work.

The second cabinet- all pieces (other than back panels) seem intact but when we started the assembly we realized that one of the side panels was cut about 3mm too long on one side. The matching dovel hole on the body of the cabinet that was supposed to correspond was also cut about 3mm to the side- we are waiting on replacement parts to arrive to able to assemble the second cabinet.

Customer service representative was very nice, but as of yet we have still not received a confirmation email about the parts availability (the request was put in via phone 3 days ago). Additional, I was also told it will take longer for the parts to arrive (than it did for the original package).

On both cabinets- the grooves have not been cleared out completely so we saw several splinters sitting in the groves that are lighter in color because the paint job wasn't done properly.

All in all, we are only keeping these because they match the rest of our dining room, but in my opinion they are definitively NOT worth the money.

nice styling, weak magnets

Overall I like the piece. The size is right, the style is right. The drawers are on metal guides which is better than I had hoped. When the piece arrived 2 pieces were broken. Although, it lengthened the overall time until it was complete, World Market did do a good job of providing customer service to the point where we were able to assemble it .

I wish the magnets on the doors were stronger. If you close a drawer shut, often the doors pop open. Because we won't be using the stuff inside or touching the furniture very often, we decided to keep it anyway.

Great Looks, Great Price

Ordered this online for the dining room and was very impressed with the quality of the wood and the color of the stain. Color is true to the picture. Assembly took some time but the instructions were easy to follow. It's a sturdy unit and fits perfectly with our existing décor.

Usually love CPWM furniture...but not this piece

The color is great, but the construction is not nearly as solid as other CPWM furniture we've bought. The doors on the side pop open anytime we open the drawers. The side is falling apart. It was a hassle to put together. I wish I hadn't bought this.....

Complicated assembly but worth it!

By

We have owned this sideboard for a few weeks and love the look. We purchased it and the Garner table as one of our first "grown up" investments in our house and are glad we did. The images and description pretty much do the sideboard justice. I wanted to warn about a few of the complications we encountered when assembling the sideboard: 1) It will take you longer than you think! There are a limited number of steps, but each "step" has about 5 sub-steps. 2) The images and instructions are also not super-clear. We had a difficult time interpreting the steps related to the hinges, but figured it out with some trial and error. (The doors continued to pop open after being closed, which we determined was a result of the hinges and the magnetic latches being installed incorrectly) 3) The biggest challenge we faced was with the magnetic latches on the doors. The assembly for the latches was installed by the manufacturer incorrectly, set too far back from the edge of the cabinet. We had to remove it and reattach it closer to the edge for the magnets to make contact. Once we did that, the doors opened and closed as they should have. Overall, it was worth the sore wrists and frustrations though, as it is a beautiful piece.

Overall Great Product

This Sideboard was put in the kitchen. It fits well and the color is great. I was able to assemble everything. One drawer had a wrong side so we called to have a new one sent. It came quickly.
So far it is strong, durable, and looks great! Solid piece of furniture. I look forward to great years with this piece.

Need better magnets!

By

Nice looking, but add me to the chorus of boos regarding the poor quality door magnets. Neither cabinet door would stay closed. Plus, one of the door magnet strips was broken upon receipt. This unit takes a few hours to assemble plus additional time to run to your local hardware store to purchase better magnets.

Nice solid wood, let down by cheap hardware and poor veneer

By

from USA

Bought this to replace another piece and I was looking for a nice, solid wood piece. This requires assembly with dowels and pins, so it is not difficult to assemble, but the quality of some of the parts is pretty cheap.

Overall it is nice, but there was some minor veneer chipping straight out of the box, and some fitment issues with the wood. The worst however is the cheap materials used for the hinges and closing mechanisms. The center drawers tend to catch on the cabinet doors, and while you can adjust them out, you end up with poorly aligned doors and panel gaps. Plus, the hinges are spring loaded, made of cheap metal, and the magnets are not strong enough to hold the doors shut. What this means is that every time you close a drawer, both cabinet doors will pop open - very annoying.

I had to have WM send me a second set of hardware, which was better than the original, because one of the hinges was broken. Still, the hardware needs to be replaced with either better magnets or just better hinges, or, just add some handles to the cabinet doors. It is not the sort of extra work that should be needed.

The shipping surcharge is pretty significant too.

Beautiful, but do not recommend because of poor quality

By

This sideboard is beautiful and I want to love it. But as others have mentioned, the magnets that hold the doors shut are horrible. One of my doors will not shut at all and sits wide open because the magnet is not strong enough. It's a shame that the low-quality magnets ruin this product for me. I would not recommend purchasing it.
