Why We Love It

Crafted in India exclusively for World Market, our Fanfare Khadi Placemats are made from 100% hand-spun, hand-woven cotton. The richly dyed cotton is spun into threads on a spinning wheel called a charkha, creating a lovely textured backdrop for your table setting. In the 1920s, Mahatma Gandhi began promoting khadi, which means cotton in Indian, as a way to strengthen India's economy. Khadi holds sentimental value for Indians to this day.

Comments about Fanfare Khadi Placemats, Set of 4:

I bought these in the "Fanfare" color, which is a beautiful, medium-to-dark teal color. I bought them to go with some light aqua/teal linen napkins I bought elsewhere. They're exactly as pictured online, and I look forward to using them! Note that they are stiff rather than just lightweight cloth.
