Great Looking Piece Bought this for our office lunch room/lounge. Our intention was more for the look than the functionality, but the secondary benefit was the storage. Be careful assembling the trunk - you must follow the recommended steps. If so, it goes together just fine - Ideally, this is a two person job. Also, be sure to coat with a decent furniture polish and use coasters. This will help keep it's good look. Wish the end tables were still available and/or I hope they get more in - we need to complete the room. April 1, 2012
Espresso Coffee Table This is in my family room with my new sofa & loveseat. I love it!!! it looks rich and tasteful and was easy for my husband to put together. I was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews, but I'm glad I got this piece. The color is true espresso and darker then the picture shows, which made me very happy!! Now I want the end table too!! March 20, 2012
Great Product This item is perfect in our living room. We have a very small area available for a coffee table so this is perfect for multi function. It works as a coffee table, storage for the kids toys and also looks great! December 4, 2010
Nice Looking Good looking trunk/coffee table. Nice black hardware and easy to assemble. I use wood glue in addition to the instructions for a stronger build. Be aware though that this is not solid wood and only a veneer covering fiber board. Ours nicked within a week and the fiber board is exposed in one area. I used a perminate marker pen in a matching brown to cover the nick, oh well. The hinges are good quality in that when you close the lid it closes nice and slow, no slamming. Very nice. Pretty, but thats it We have only had this item for about one month and the leg has fallen off, and the screws stripped. My niece spilled a glass of water and the wood bubbled and looks awful now...If I had known it would do that I would have put polyurethane on it before I used it. It is a gorgeous piece and holds alot but it is best in a room that is not frequented by family. January 15, 2011
piece of junk I purchased this chest to use for its intended purpose, as a coffee table with storage. It was assembled last night and today it fell apart. The pressed wood and the screws included are incredibly cheap and do not hold together. The hinges which are used to hold up the lid are too heavy for this cheap pressed wood and were another reason why the chest fell apart. The chest/table looked great when assembled and the espresso color was a perfect match with my other furniture, but only wish it was better quality and didnt fall apart in less than 12 hours! Disappointment I have to agree with Phil in California. Too bad I ordered mine before he posted his review. I finally got around to assembling it this weekend so it can be used as a toy box after Christmas. I am really disappointed that it is actually fiberboard and how easily it scratches. I have a scratch on it just from removing the pieces from the box. Also, the assembly should be really easy but it is not. The screw holes do not line up and they are not even drilled out enough so the screws don't fit. December 10, 2010
poor quality First piece of furniture I have bought from world market and I am very disappointed in the quality. Cheap laminate that chips and scratches easily. Doesn't assemble well. The pre-drilled holes don't even line up correctly with the hardware. I had to drill my own. Also uses cam screws which I can't stand. It's the type of stuff you get in furniture from [...] November 26, 2010
