Gotta Care for your Rattan... Or it'll split... I read some of the negative reviews on here and figured I should make a review of my own... have owned a few papasan chairs and a few other "wicker or rattan" items I figured I might shed a little light on this item. Rattan or Wicker needs to be OILED. If you don't it becomes VERY VERY brittle and will either break or split. If you looked at the care instructions you need to oil it quite often. This will keep it from splitting or cracking. Depending on your climate it could be as much as once a month. Sounds like a lot of work but it isn't. I use BOILED linseed oil. I put it in a spray bottle and just spray these down... then wipe it off after a couple minutes takes barely any time at all. But yeah all the negative reviews I'm sure they didn't oil their chair!! Not made to last My husband and I purchased 2 of these frames not even 6 months ago and one has already shredded and the other has had to be re-nailed several times. We are very upset, as we hoped these would last much longer, considering the cost. January 27, 2013
Poor quality and craftmaship The frame is not built to last, I boought it less than six months ago and the frame broke at least six times. I am not heavy at all, I am 165 lbs and it still broke. I saw the frame and I found out that it broke where they nailed the thinner frame pieces to the rest of the structure. See pictures attached. January 23, 2013
