The Story Behind It

The Timeless Design of the Classic Adirondack Chair

Occasionally used as a verb, "Adirondacking" describes picnicking with Adirondack chairs for seating. Popular since their inception in 1905 when they were known as "Westport plank chairs," Adirondacks are known the world over for their comfortable, sturdy and chic design. The casual elegance of the Adirondack chair is a classic World Market favorite; its sleek and simple high back and wide arms make it a perfect spot for cozy sunset watching or enjoying BBQ and a beverage while sitting back and relaxing.

A delightful complement to many of our outdoor furniture collections, our Classic Adirondack Collection boasts a broad color palette including natural wood hues, blues, greens, purple, yellow, orange, red and antique white. Pick up a matching end table and stool to complete this classic ensemble. Or, for an updated take on this enduring style, discover our Coastal Adirondack Chair, featuring a chunkier profile and the same timeless appeal as our classic version.

beautiful they are truly a work of art :) I love lounging on them March 15, 2013
Fantastic chairs We've owned two of the Espresso Adirondack chairs and a table for three years and they are fantastic for our use, which is on a covered balcony deck. They are not painted or sealed, just stained, so they do require oiling once a year to stay looking nice. The oil is not a pleasant scent, but it fades quickly once dry. By the end of the fall season they are looking a little faded, so we oil them, take them apart for storage, and put them away for winter. Next year they are good as new. They are comfortable and sturdy for the two plus-sized people that use them most, and the arms are great for holding a cool drink and a book safely. We love them, especially at the very reasonable price. June 14, 2011

Great Chairs for the Price Great Chairs for the cost and easy to put together November 16, 2010
Great Chair We bought this last year-one con is that they are not easy to store! We knew we would have to store them outside so we bought covers from one of those catalogues that appear in your mailbox-specifically for Adirondack chairs and they have worked really well. Our chairs were out all winter and they look perfect. June 27, 2009
I would buy it again I have owned two of these chairs for a year now and they are great. They have faded a bit, but everything does in Arizona! I get compliments all the time at how welcoming my front porch is because of these chairs. Yes, assembly can be an irritant, but that is true for all products needing assembly. May 20, 2009
