Great Look At An Affordable Price I have done a lot of research for an affordable upholstered bed and this was the first one that I was happy with (in look and price). It seemed like everywhere I looked, the prices were extremely high or it wouldn't include the whole bed frame (just the headboard). I believe I got a great deal on this bed because I had a coupon and they were having a promotion on all furniture at the time. I also had the bed delivered to my nearest World Market to save on shipping and handling costs. However, it looks like this item is only available in store now. I'm not sure if that will change in the future or if they are discontinuing this product. I actually purchased this bed without seeing it in person, but thought that it had the modern "hotel look" that I was going for. I only saw the same bed in store, but in the oatmeal color. In comparison, the texture of the oatmeal fabric was a rough burlap feeling while the dove grey has a smoother fabric finish to it. I thought I was going to need a lot of help putting together this bed, but it was pretty simple. The product comes in two boxes. The bed can fit in a SUV or larger vehicle if you take the headboard and footboard out of the box. They are packaged on top of each other, making the box it came packaged in very wide. I didn't know this, but the World Market employee who helped me load it into my car knew what to do. Otherwise, I would have been pretty concerned of how to get this bed home. The bed comes with everything you need to build it with and has easy photo instructions. I had the help of one other person, but their efforts were very minimal. From other reviewers, there was mention that the screws that came with the bed were not long enough, so I was extremely cautious to tighten all the screws as tight as a I could before placing my mattress in. It seems to be sturdy, so far. However, I'm not consciously jumping on it either. This is the first low profile bed I've ever had. I'm usually used to having a high mattress set, but this was a nice change. I ended up getting a high queen mattress with a bunkie board. I opted to not get a low profile box spring, because I wasn't sure if it would have peeped up over the bed frame. Make sure you measure that before getting the low profile box spring. I'm sure you could go with either, but I think the bunkie board provides great support under the mattress and over the wood slats. I think it works really well and had provided enough height to make it easir for me to put sheets on. Another reviewer mentioned that after she leaned against her headboard with wet hair, it had become discolored from the moisture. I would be cautious of that. I do not intend to test if that's true, but I would imagine that you'd have to be a little more careful with fabric covered furniture. The only cons that I noticed was that the upholstered fabric was not on the back of the bed or at the bottom of the headboard, but no one should be seeing that anyway. Also, some of the wooden feet of my bed came in a little scuffed up. I ended up using those two towards the back of my bed. It's barely noticeable unless someone gets down on their hands and knees to inspect it. And from a personal standpoint, I wish that it came with higher legs or a taller headboard, but I knew coming in that this was a low profile bed. Overall, I've had this bed for a week and I'm very pleased with the way it looks and feels in my room. I'm looking forward the enjoying this bed for years to come. March 25, 2012
Dove Grey Draper Upholstered Headboard This product is great! It was easy to assemble (did it myself)! My only question is where do I find the bedding used in the photograph? March 14, 2012
Beautiful Fabric and expensive look I just purchased this bed with a coupon and I think it's such a great value. I haven't assembled this yet, only seen the store display and the pieces in my box. But I wanted to comment because it's a new color that doesn't seem to be in stores yet (I had to custom order this color). So for anyone wondering what it looks like in person, it's gorgeous! The fabric has a nice, expensive look to it. It definitiely reminds me of a more expensive crate and barrel bed, but at a better price. The fabric has a nice crisp look to it and looks like it's made from a blend of cotton/linen with a touch of silk (although at this price I'm sure it's synthetic). It has a nice crisp sheen, but it's not shiny. The only downside to this bed is that I wish the headboard were taller/grander. The legs are really short so if World Market would only offer taller wood legs I'd pay extra for them. You can find more reviews on this bed from actual owners if you look at the Oatmeal Draper bed reviews. December 8, 2011
