I've had this bed (minus headboard) for over four years now. At first it seemed pretty solid and good looking. After two years of use it started falling apart. The wood frame at the base was the first to go. I've wood glued pieces back into place and added additional screws and it still continues to fall apart. My hard wood floors are absolutely trashed under the frame and i had thick felt attached to all corners and touching points. And if the frame is off a bit the drawers are a trick to pull open being they are only on wheels and not attached to the bed at all. If they were fastened in I think it would make this bed more solid. So, I'd only recommend this bed as a guest bed or to an individual sleeper who does not toss and turn
After combing the internet for a storage platform bed, we decided to order this bed for a number of reasons. First, the price couldn't be beat. Second, we have purchased a dining room table and console table from World Market in the past and were very pleased with the high quality and low cost of their furniture. So, I felt confident ordering this bed. It only took 11 days for the bed to arrive. My husband assembled it in about 4 hours. The most time consuming part of the assembly was framing the 4 drawers. From the product description, I wasn't certain how those drawers operated, so I will share what I know now. They have wheels that run on the floor and side rails that guide them into place. They function very smoothly and I believe this design will allow them to last longer, especially if you load up your drawers with heavy things. The wood slats (that are arched up) that create the 'platform' in which to place the mattress tend to make a creaking sound when getting in and out of the bed and when flipping over in bed. We have yet to lift up the mattress to make sure they were installed properly, so doing this might help. We ordered the bed in a king and wish they made a matching headboard for it (only available for the queen.) With our small house (1300 sq. ft. for a family of 4) this was the perfect solution. It gave us the storage we needed with a modern design we love. If you have looked for platform beds, you will know that this is about the narrowest, smallest design you will find. Usually the sides are much wider on platform beds. Which is a nice look, but functionally difficult to get in and out of. The sides of this bed are only about 3.5 inches wide on all 4 sides, which is nice on 3 sides but not the head side. Without a headboard, if feels like our pillows are going to fall off the edge with the 4-5 inch gap between the mattress and the wall. Not ideal. It has been a change for us to go from a queen mattress and box spring set on a metal frame. With a metal frame, your toes can go under the bed when getting in and out and making it. It doesn't work that way with a platform bed. That has taken us some getting used to. We have definitely stubbed a toe or bumped a shins a time. However, it has been a nice style change to go from seeing the base of the bed as a fabric bed skirt to having the base of the bed as a beautiful, dark wood. I can tell you, I don't miss fussing with the stupid bed skirt with our old set up! Also, the absence of a bed skirt (with a platform bed design) allows making the bed a lot easier. We initially ordered the king bed for $650. About 17 days after ordering the bed, I saw that it went on sale for $450. I immediately called and they credited me the difference. That is great customer service!
I love this bed! My bf and I purchased a king size last December (almost a year ago) and have been very happy with it. It was simple to put together and seems to be made out of quality materials. We don't use a box spring, we don't miss having one. Between my bf, our bulldog, and I, the bed is supporting a little over 400lbs each night and we haven't noticed any issues at all.
