It is very heavy but I found it easy to assemble - just hard to move (I've got a few bruises from that!). I am not planning to extend it - so I don't know about that. I agree that for a table to eat on - the roughness would be a problem. Very sturdy though, and beautiful to look at. Just want I needed - so I am happy. January 10, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by greenc51 Nice table but questionable build quality As I type this, I am taking a break from putting this piece of junk together. Whoever constructed this, must've done so on a Friday at 5pm before it was time to go. I consider myself a pretty handy guy, but this table has been the most ridiculous thing to put together that I have ever experienced. First, the screws provided to screw through the legs into the cross support beam snapped off at the head, thus leaving the rest of the screw lodged in the leg. With few choices to remove it, I tried pliers. That didn't work because it simply stripped the threads. So I had to dremel off the protruding piece of broken screw, drill into the remaining screw lodged in the leg to make a slightly large hole. I bought extra wood screws from a local store, and tried to screw that in too. You know what? That snapped off at the head too. Ok, so at this point, something is up with this wood. After a third attempt, I managed to get a screw in there at a different angle. Second, the underside frame in one of the corners was broken and wobbly, and clearly an attempted repair and cover up with liquid wood by whoever built the table. I had to remove the original screws that were there and screw in slightly longer screws to tighten this area up. Third, the large hex bolts that screw through the frame into the legs, one corner was obviously measured incorrectly because the bolts on this corner will NOT reach the leg holes no matter how hard I try. (this is what I am take a break from at this very moment). All in all, the table is nice but I feel like I have built the table myself by having to improvise from such shoddy build quality. I want to return the table and exchange for another but I don't have a truck. I had to rent a uhaul van ($70) to get home this table and other chairs I purchased. This was my first and LAST purchase from world market. Good day. May 16, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Jyoung Don't Buy I was really excited about this table but have been left really disappointed. The legs are placed so awkwardly that you can't actually put more than two chairs on each side unless you want them sticking out and when people are at the table they will be straddling a table leg while they eat. As for quality, the extension does not line up and it makes the whole table bow from the center. The brackets locking the table didn't have all the screws put in and broke right away. The most disappointing part is the table finish. I wanted rustic but the top is so unfinished that it gives you splinters and food gets stuck to every crevasse. I'm going to have put a polyurethane finish on the top so my table isn't caked with nasty food droppings. I had to buy it online and have shipped. I feel stuck with it and now I have to do work to it to make it functional. Not worth more than $100, find something else. June 16, 2013
