Why We Love It

Ernesto Rodriguez shoots a color Polaroid from an old 5 x 7 and then heats up the film on a hot plate. He etches the film to give the image the right quality of atmosphere and intensity. The image is then scanned digitally. Using software, he hand paints the image to heighten the mood through color and texture. He celebrates his Cuban heritage by combining romance and sensual shades to imbue his work with Old World charm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by I could not be happier with it! My brother and I went to Cinque Terra 1.5 years ago, and he actually took almost this exact picture! This print, however, has such vibrant color and has a more artistic look than our photo, so I could not pass it up! February 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by lovely picture better than we imagined, it's a beautiful piece of artwork. June 21, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice painting and reminder of Vernazza, Italy I ordered this painting because we are visiting this town in the fall, and it was an affordable way to get a large print of one of the most scenic towns on the Italian Riviera. The print has a 3-D effect. Up close, it is a little blurry, but from a distance, it is perfect to look at. It does not come with a frame, but doesn't really need one. It was on sale, so I jumped on it and was not disappointed. It is a unique piece of art, and like it for that reason alone. June 26, 2014
